Concordia College’s Pamela M. Jolicoeur Chairs Minnesota Private College Council
Other board changes include addition of new college presidents
ST. PAUL, August 15, 2008 — Pamela M. Jolicoeur, Ph.D., president of Concordia College, Moorhead, chairs the Minnesota Private College Council, Fund and Research Foundation as of July 1. Jolicoeur came to Concordia College in 2004; she has been active on the Council’s board as well as other regional and national boards.
“Minnesota’s nonprofit private colleges have a long history of contributing to the welfare of the state and region, dating back before the founding of the state itself. We continue to play a vital role, awarding one-third of all baccalaureate degrees in the state,” Jolicoeur said. “The Council provides a much needed collective voice on behalf of all the students and alumni of our 17 institutions.”
A summa cum laude graduate of Santa Clara (Calif.) University, Jolicoeur earned her doctorate degree in sociology from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. She came to Concordia following a 32-year career at California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, where she served as a member of the sociology faculty, vice president for academic affairs, and from 1996-2004 as provost and dean of the faculty.

New directors starting July 1 include:
- Robert Vanasek, former legislative leader, former association president and current honorary consul for the Czech Republic;
- Jay Barnes, Ph.D., president, Bethel University;
- Jack Ohle, president, Gustavus Adolphus College; and
- Br. William Mann, FSC, president, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.
Two community board members have stepped down — Hennepin County Attorney Michael Freeman and Ziegler Inc. Chairman and CEO William Hoeft. The new presidents on the board replace their predecessors, who have all retired since June:
